Federal Program Fee
Updated: 4/1/2026 4:15 AM
The Federal Program Fee is assessed to recover the cost of a variety of program-related fees, including the Federal Universal Service Fund (USF), the Federal Telecommunications Relay Service Fund (TRS), and the Federal Regulatory Fee. It also recovers other administrative and compliance costs Vonage incurs to comply with its regulatory obligations.
The Federal USF is used to support affordable telecommunications services to schools, libraries, and rural health care facilities. It also provides support for telecommunications services in high-cost areas and for low-income households. Vonage’s contribution obligations to the Federal USF may be increased or decreased up to four times a year (once per quarter), depending on the needs of the universal service program.
The Federal TRS Fund is used to support telecommunication services for individuals who have a hearing or speech disability. TRS allows such individuals to communicate by telephone in a manner that is functionally equivalent to telephone services used by persons without such disabilities.
The Federal Regulatory Fee is mandated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and is used to fund the FCC's operations.
Effective April 1, 2026, the rate is 13.50%.
